Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) Specialist

Engineering Department

Skills Required:

  • High level computer (work station) skills to specify, operate, and maintain routine hardware and auxiliary devices used for CADD operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer programs involving applications such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Access/Word/Excel, CAD Drawing Viewing Programs, and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Self-starter able to work independently as well as interact cooperatively with supervisors, other engineering department personnel and personnel from other departments.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Engineering related field with continued education course work in CAD methodology.
  • 4-10 years’ experience working in an engineering environment as a CAD draftsman/designer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize AutoCAD software to prepare P&IDs and PFD/s and other related required Engineering Documents for all existing process systems and new processes.
  • Update and verifies all existing P. & I.D.’s by actual field inspection in the plant.
  • Render staff engineers equipment and process system design sketches to finished detailed CAD drawings for fabrication and installation by plant mechanics and pipe fitters. Independently create designs as required [supports and platforms.]
  • Organize and maintain the engineering drawing database and hard copy files of all equipment, process system, building plans, plot plans and tank farm layout drawings.
  • Maintain and update the plant capital equipment number and tagging system in the engineering computer database and on the LAN.
  • Operate, monitor, and order supplies for the engineering department print and plotting machines.
