This position heads our Sourcing Practices for the Packaging categories and related services. The VP, Sourcing Practices - Packaging will own the deliverables for LSI's Packaging sourcing strategies, including the management of all related supplier cutovers and supplier on-boarding processes, in support of large-scale sourcing and procurement initiatives for our clients. The individual is responsible to manage and to develop a high performing team of senior level category leads and industry & category subject matter experts. In addition, the individual is responsible to source and cultivate the packaging supplier ecosystem to achieve sustainable and measurable savings and values for our clients.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and develop a high performing team of senior level category leads and industry & category subject matter experts
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies as a key part of our solution to deliver on client objectives for packaging categories
  • Partner with the LogicSource Value Delivery, Solutions and Client Implementation teams to set expectations, establish project timelines with defined roles and responsibilities and motivate client participants and internal LogicSource stakeholders to deliver within scope and on-time
  • Lead discovery sessions and review Sourcing Strategies and RFx documents and strategy with the supply chain team and with the client
  • Foster LogicSource's supplier ecosystem by maintaining in-depth knowledge of and relationships with the national supplier marketplace by category
  • Develop supplier and sourcing strategies that deliver sustainable and measureable savings for our clients
  • Ensure strategies can be executed in compliance with appropriate policies and procedures, support onsite teams in resolving supplier issues as necessary
  • Review and develop sourcing process improvements and efficiencies for our clients
  • Negotiate best pricing and service through the application of LogicSource's sourcing methodology
  • Manage contract negotiations and rate card implementations with our supplier ecosystem
  • Remain abreast of the latest innovations in products and services and continually feed information to those serving our clients. Identify and share technical best practices across various client engagements
  • Lead and ensure effective and successful implementation of supplier and sourcing strategies for our procurement outsourcing engagements
  • Manage flawless supplier cutover and procurement process implementations
  • Transition and implement identified sourcing strategies for Packaging, spec rationalization and process improvements. Work with the Value Delivery team and the Subject Matter Experts to finalize these strategies and present them to the client for approval to cutover and implement
  • Manage the execution of large-scale and multi-client RFx with our sourcing team, maintain an effective supplier management strategy including a disciplined process to vet, on-board, monitor and audit suppliers
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans to meet the objectives of multiple concurrent and client specific supplier cutovers and sourcing strategy implementations
  • Partner with the LogicSource Value Delivery team to plan, transition and track the savings delivery implementation of our deals
  • Serve as the supply chain lead for Packaging during deal implementation, ensuring the supply chain organization is delivering first-rate customer service
  • Provide market and industry insight and senior level subject matter expertise to clients and internal departments spanning the entire client relationship lifecycle
  • Drive value engineering opportunities for packaging specifications and procurement process improvements to drive efficiency, savings and overall value
  • Counsel internal and client stakeholders on specifications improvement and value engineering to drive cost containment and savings
  • Provide first-rate customer service to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, internal and external

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 15+ years cross-functional experience in in a leadership procurement role with focus on strategic sourcing and cost savings and value implementation, procurement and supplier management related to primary and secondary Packaging
  • Strong Leadership experience with extensive experience in managing individuals and teams to success
  • Detail oriented with the keen ability to deliver on client expectations, influencing others or escalating as needed to do so
  • Proven ability to build relationships and gain credibility in areas beyond defined scope of work
  • Strong public speaking/presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to "control a room"
  • Analytically adept with the ability to interpret complex data for informed decision-making and to assess results
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills with the proven ability to interact effectively with suppliers, and internal or client stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Adaptable and willing to shift priorities as client needs change
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel for financial analysis
  • Proven technical knowledge of primary packaging (CPG) and secondary packaging, including distribution packaging (Corrugate, stretch film, etc.), folding cartons, labels, bags/slips, shrink sleeves, tubes & caps, etc.
  • Demonstrated success in managing suppliers, negotiating and managing high-value contracts
  • Experience with e-sourcing software in a print/packaging environment, including SAP Ariba
  • Exposure to or experience working with corporate Marketing/Procurement teams at all levels from creative to the C-Suite, especially within a services industry (e.g., professional consulting, BPO, outsourcing)
  • Experience with inventory management, requisitioning, fulfillment and distribution is a plus
  • Exposure to some or all of the following is desirable:
    • Marketing collateral: retail inserts, high-volume direct mail/ postal requirements and other commercial printing.
    • Signage: weekly/monthly POP programs, small and large format graphics and another OOH
    • Current press technology for offset (web and sheet-fed), digital (small and large format) and screen printing
    • Pre-media
    • Complex kit pack-outs
    • Warehousing and fulfillment
    • Distribution and logistics


This position travels up to 30% of the time.
