Job Description:

The Medical Director for University Health Services will provide overall direction and management of clinical services for Student Health Services, as well as staff and faculty, and will be responsible for planning, directing and controlling the operation of the department's medical operations.

Duties include:

* Advises and assists in planning, directing and reporting clinical service activity.

* Will also ensure clinical activities are in compliance with Student Health Services polices, state and federal statutes and other applicable guidelines.

* Provides direct primary outpatient care for a culturally diverse student population, coordinates referrals to specialty or hospital services.

* Experience in college health and performing minor office procedures (e.g., suturing, wart removal, I&D, etc.), ability to diagnose and treat health problems and the ability to communicate both professionally and efficiently in verbal and written communication is essential for success in this position.

* Acts as first contact for Club and Intramural injuries, employee work related injuries.

* Supervises and provides consultations for mid-level providers such as Advanced Registered Practice Nurse (ARNPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs).

* Ensures the quality of professional standards at levels required by licensing agencies and as outlined by the American College Health Association.


* A Board Certified/Board Eligible Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy in a primary care, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or other ambulatory care specialty.

* Current direct patient care required.

* Current Connecticut medical license, current DEA certificate and current CPR certification are required.

Additional Information:

Evening and weekend hours to be expected.
