Job Description Responsible for leadership, organization and oversight of all Information Technology (IT) testing automation initiatives throughout the enterprise.
Works with Quality Assurance (QA) and Test Center of Excellence (TCoE) leadership to establish, support and advance testing automation during IT projects and for IT Product and Technology Centers to assure consistency and compliance of testing automation.

Essential Functions:
  • Driving force to establish and operate the testing automation practice area to automate testing for IT projects, application portfolios and infrastructure systems.
  • With QA and TCoE leadership, designs, starts up and runs the Testing Automation Center.
  • Assures consistency and compliance of testing automation across all IT projects, applications and infrastructure systems.
  • Develops, promulgates and conducts change advocacy to inculcate and continuously improve testing automation.
  • Develops, supports and advances the policies, processes and tools for testing automation.
  • Develops testing automation procedures, activities, deliverables, job aids and best practices and coaches on proper use of these.
  • Partners with Project Managers, IT and business managers and staff from project inception through transition to production implementation and throughout ongoing production support to assure effective and efficient testing automation.
  • Develops and executes plans to embed the appropriate testing automation activities and deliverables into the work people do, and to improve test yield of existing test cases.
  • Coaches individuals and teams about how to identify testing automation activities, develop testing automation scripts and create testing automation regression test suites and maintain these current through the life of the project and product.
  • Develops, maintains and oversees the testing automation portfolio across the enterprise.
  • Organizes and schedules all testing automation related work planning and execution throughout IT. Attends meetings in person with development teams to identify automation testing needs.
  • Identifies and oversees automation opportunities within the business areas.
  • Coordinates automation engagements with Project Managers, Test Leads and Product and Technology Center managers.
  • Provides the automation test strategy and architecture as required.
  • Writes and maintains high value system level automated tests. Attends meetings with Test Leads to define the steps needed and the test data required to execute the test cases. Debugs any intermittent failures that may occur on automated tests. Coordinate the technical execution of test scripting with additional resources.
  • Runs weekly testing automation meetings to status all ongoing testing automation work, identify new testing automation work and transition testing automation from project mode to production support.
  • Works with QA and TCoE leadership to develop service quality standards and analytics to monitor performance of testing automation.
  • Conducts periodic audits of compliance.
  • Recommends, designs and implements corrections and continuous improvements as needed.
  • Evaluates and, as needed, recovers testing automation initiatives.
  • Interacts and coordinates with onshore and offshore employee and contractor personnel as well as vendors who perform testing automation.
  • Coordinates and oversees special projects.
  • Partners with the IT Project Management Office (PMO) and Enterprise Architecture (EA) to assure a fully integrated testing automation approach and program.
  • Work includes analyzing, consulting, designing, implementing, leading, presenting and developing.
This role works in an environment that often requires performing multiple simultaneous activities where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant IT and business commitments and results.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Experience:
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant technical and business experience designing, conducting and leading testing automation activities is required.
  • Demonstrated experience starting up testing automation and providing advocacy and change leadership is required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading testing automation initiatives and teams is required.
  • Experience creating, running and maintaining testing automation test cases, scripts and regression test suites is required.
  • Experience with testing automation as part of work scope for projects, the transition of automated test suites from projects to operational support, and maintaining automation regression test suites to remain current is required.
  • A working understanding of project based Software Delivery, application production Support and QA / Testing methodologies is required.
  • Experience working in a TCoE or equivalent organizational structure is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Client testing tools, Unified Functional Test automation tool in particular is preferred.
  • Experience with Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and Software as a Solution (SaaS) is preferred.
  • Industry recognized certification for testing automation is a plus.
  • Ability to form partnerships with and influence business and IT stakeholders, and work across a complex and diverse enterprise environment is required.
  • Ability to work independently with high level direction and oversight is required.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation and interpersonal (e.g., listening, persuasion) skills are required. Excellent, leadership, negotiation and presentation skills are required.
  • Ability to shift perspective from high level big picture to low-level detail.
  • Strong prioritization, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to present and absorb complex ideas quickly and accurately.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Quality Management, related discipline or equivalent experience required.
