Reporting to the Manager, Software Development, the Supervisor, Software Development provides technical expertise, assistance on technical projects, and coaching to ensure the continued success of our Development Team.
Overview of Responsibilites
??Play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Software Development Team.
??Assist in preparation of effort estimates and timelines for Client Support deliverables, including high level analysis and impact to other activities.
??With previous experience as a Senior Developer and knowledge of modern day programming concepts, the Supervisor of Software Development will provide input into standards and processes that are critical to the success of our team.
??Develop and coach staff, monitor performance levels, work volume, and capacity.
??Lead the activities of the Development Team in accomplishing the strategic goals and objectives for the company.
??Act as the primary contact representing the Development Team for Client Support.
??Lead analysis and investigation activities for development related issues that impact Client Support.
??Consistently demonstrate positive, effective communication skills and interactions with team members and resolve issues when they arise.
??Encourage the adoption of Team Foundation Server (TFS) processes as they relate to the Client Support deliverables.
??Ensure that milestones are met by anticipating issues, managing resources and risks.
Point of contact and escalation for our Toronto Development Team.
Competencies and Qualifications
??University degree or college diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline.
??Minimum of 3 years' experience managing and/or leading teams.
??Minimum of 7 years of complex business application design and programming experience.
??Minimum of 5 years' experience with C#, .NET, or other programming language
??Minimum of 5 years' experience with relational databases (Oracle is preferred).
??Must have strong business acumen skills to facilitate the setting of business priorities.
??Knowledge of Business Objects, data warehouses, and related tools would be an asset
??Experience using Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server.
??Experience working with enterprise level applications.
??Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to organize and negotiate with multi-disciplinary teams to meet deadlines and deliver commitments on schedule and on budget.
??Ability to breakdown complicated technical concepts to the correct level of detail depending on the audience.
??Possess a unique blend of design, development, technical, problem solving and time management skills.
??Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
??Ability to organize, plan, and manage the team's schedule to meet tight deadlines and deliver commitments on schedule, while adapting to changing demands and priorities.
??Demonstrated leadership experience to motivate, build, develop and lead effective teams in a collaborative and engaging environment to achieve results.
??Bilingual French/English would be considered an asset.
