Job Description:

Role Summary

The Senior Vice President of Data Analytics is responsible for leading the centralized Data Analytics team that supports a transformational customer experience across the enterprise to drive value for partners and an improved end customer experience. The SVP of Data Analytics reports to the Chief Customer Engagement Officer, and will build and lead a Synchrony-wide Analytics organization. This leader will use contemporary tools and technology that will provide data analytics and insights to increase revenue, grow profitability, and improve the customer experience.

Essential Responsibilities

* Work with the Chief Customer Engagement Officer (CCEO) to define a data analytics strategy and approach to support the organization; as well as, support for the enterprise customer engagement strategy initiatives to improve end-to-end customer experience for SYF.

* Build and implement a data analytics framework and prioritization process that enables growth and aligns with the vision and objectives of the business.

* Partner with the SVP of Customer Engagement to drive a holistic, multichannel framework for customer engagement. Support the development and implementation of a singular view of the customer, leveraging data across all customer channels and interactions.

* Build and lead the Data Analytics team: 1) Data Scientists to drive innovative solutioning, 2) customized business intelligence, with deep analytics skills and experience that drive insight across all business platforms and functions, 3) ongoing routine portfolio analytics

* Research areas to enhance existing capabilities, data monetization opportunities, and create an innovative and forward looking Analytics team

* Develop career tracking and paths for the Data Analytics team

* Assess existing analytics tools and techniques, and select best in class tools and technologies to support Data Analytics strategy

* Develop and routinize best in class processes for Data Analytics support in the organization

* Provide leadership to ensure adherence with all external and internal Compliance and Regulatory requirements; including a governance framework around customer and client data.

* Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with all internal and external key stakeholders.

Qualifications/Requirements

* Bachelor's degree required, advanced education in decision sciences/mathematics or related is strongly preferred or in lieu of a degree 20+ years' data analytics leadership experience in financial services, banking, technology, and/or retail industries

* Minimum of 10 years' data analytics leadership experience in financial services, banking, technology, and/or retail industries.

* Must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

* Deep and broad knowledge/ understanding of multiple data analytics framework techniques, platforms and technologies, and can implement innovative strategies across Synchrony Financial's business platforms and offerings.

* Demonstrated knowledge of the retail banking & payments landscape, both industry dynamics as well as players in the industry.

* Knowledge of external Regulatory and Compliance Requirements.

Desired Characteristics:

* Financial Services, Retail, ecommerce or advanced marketing analytics Industry experience.

* Strategic thinker with strong judgment and business sense.

* Demonstrated capacity to navigate multiple data structures and processes including warehouses, lakes, agile, etc. Ability to simplify complex data sources into a holistic improved customer experience through data insights and analysis.

* Strong executive presence and communications skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

* You must be 18 years or older

* You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

* You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process

* You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

* If currently a Synchrony Financial Employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 6 months (Level 4 - 7) or 24 months (level 8 or greater), have at least a "consistently meets expectations" performance rating and have the approval of your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR to apply if you don't meet the time-in-job or performance requirement
