POSITION SUMMARY:

Individual contributor that provides leadership and direction in setting and achieving program objectives for timing, cost, manufacturability, quality, localization, and customer satisfaction for the development and launch of new and sustaining engineering business streams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Performs in the lead role - the focal point - for product development and launch directing all phases of both new and sustaining engineering programs from inception through completion.

* Leads team activities, including: planning new program launch; creating project schedules with key milestones; defining each functional area's deliverable; communicating plans, schedules, and changes; and generating consensus from the team.

* Budgets, tracks, and, controls all project costs in real time, and obtaining management approval for all cost overruns.

* Responsible for the schedule and technical performance of programs and provides early identification of any variances.

* Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions both internal and with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.

* Identifies program problems and recommends solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.

* Partners with management to direct the work of employees assigned to programs from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May be given supervisory responsibilities for other engineers or technicians.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Acts as a resource for both the assigned business unit as well as across the Advanced Motion Solutions division as needed.

Position Requirements

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor of Science in technical degree (EE or ME), degree in Project Management preferred; 3-5 years' related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Expert knowledge of new and sustaining product development processes.

Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Work, & Project).

Expert understanding of design control, APQP, and Stage/Gate product development.

Knowledge of electromechanical systems and controls required.

Knowledge of industrial and commercial vehicle products preferred.

Must have strong communication skills (written, vernal, interpersonal).

Must have the ability to work in a self-directed environment and closely within a team environment when required.

Excellent time management skills; ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks.

Partner with management to bring products to market, while minimizing risk and maximizing opportunity.

Contribute significantly to the development of departmental processes/procedures.

Ability to assist in defining problems, collecting data, and formulating solutions.
