Job Description:

Employee and Job Classification: Exempt Employee; Full-time position. Job Summary: Senior staff member providing cost accounting, controllership and financial analysis for Cortland, NY operations. Essential Functions: Provides highly complex financial analysis of plant operations, exercising a strong understanding of the business and the reporting methods used locally and at the corporate level. Ensures plant business model is effective for organizing data and achieving objectives. Completes comprehensive manufacturing costing activities and evaluations used for the basis of business decisions and to expose obstacles of project profitability. Provides financial leadership and guidance to influence strategic decision-making at every level of the organization. Leads business performance improvement initiatives by participating in system-wide analysis and planning efforts; engages in the design of process improvements and policy development. Develops and maintains a plant metrics reporting system, analyzes the results, and reports recommendations based on findings. Review and interpret plant spending activity for better accountability and control. Assist in budgetary planning and capital expenditure reporting. Executes plant and intercompany reconciliations and month-end closing activities. Develops budgets, standardized financial reports and forecasts. Responsible for inventory management. Represents plant operations during corporate finance planning processes. Investigates and evaluates accounting practices to determine if plants true financial standing is being reported and if the costing methodologies (i.e. application of existing burden rates) accurately reflect plants true costs; work to improve methods based on research. Ability to influence multiple members of the companies corporate management team. Travels as plant and company representative as necessary. Makes presentations to customers, suppliers and stake holders of the company. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA Preferred) Minimum 5 years' related accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Prior experience managing/leading others preferred Qualifications: Strong business acumen, GAAP and accounting principles, ability to effectively partner with upper management and other business units Strong Cost Accounting skills (Standard and Actual) Excellent working knowledge of financial systems Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
