Job Description:

The Jewish Foundation is a trusted and expert resource for charitable gift planning and endowments and serves as a partner and resource for the Jewish Federation, synagogues, local Jewish agencies, professional advisors, and donors. The Foundation totals over $50 million including over 660 individual charitable funds. Last year the Jewish Foundation distributed over $3 million and received over $7 million in donations. The Jewish Foundation accountant will be responsible for grants management, financial reporting, and donor management for individual donor funds. In addition, the accountant will have primary communication responsibility with the Foundation's donor reporting company. Specific responsibilities include: Monthly and quarterly fund level accounting for individual donor funds and trusts.Produce spreadsheet with all donor account activity.Review custodial bank reports.Review monthly and quarterly income distributions and donations from funds and related distribution ratios.Review fees for all funds.Review spending policy calculations.Review and reconcile monthly custodial bank statements.Review performance at both fund and manager levels, including analysis of return to benchmark returns and comparison of manager to custodian returns, and investigate variances.Manage future transition for fund reporting from outside reporting firm to in-house reporting.Assist in coordinating investment manager transitions and new fund and manager setup, acting as a liaison with Jewish Foundation's investment team, the custodian bank and investment manager personnel.Participate in the preparation of financial statement drafts during year end audits, and have primary correspondence responsibility with the Foundation's outside auditing firm.Report to Executive Director of the Jewish Foundation as well as CFO of Jewish Federation.Prepare financial reports for quarterly board and committee meetings.Manage cash flow requirements.Maintain general ledger, and reconcile to subsidiary ledgers using Quickbooks accounting softwareAccounts Payable: process grant vouchers and payments for operating expensesAccounts Receivable: post cash/wire/credit card transactionsManage the preparation of forms 1099, 990 and coordinate all tax filings with the Foundation's outside accounting firm.Ad hoc projects and reports QUALIFICATIONS: 6+ years Accounting experience 4 year accounting degree is preferred, but not necessaryStrong system skills: Microsoft Office, database, and web technologiesExperience with QuickBooksExperience with a fund management database such as Microedge FMS is preferredFoundation experience preferredExcellent written and verbal communication Please send cover letter and resume in confidence to: Marlyn Henry, Human Resources Manager No phone calls please We are an EE/AA employer and encourage individuals of all backgrounds and faiths to apply
