Description:Description\: The Associate Director - Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for providing accounting support to the Area Director and other Management by performing analysis and preparing decision-related information. He/She is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the financial reporting for all U.S. companies on SAP and their delivery to Financial Management. All these activities are accomplished in part by managing the day to day activities of a professional staff of four Analysts.   • Provides accounting support to the Director of Accounting and Functional Controllers. Provides leadership in the resolution of accounting-related problems, including their analysis, commentary, resolution, recommendations and presentation to Management.
  • Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and year-end closes, reporting and spending variance analysis, and ensuring that the department adheres to set timelines..
  • Responsible for managing a staff of four and maximizing their potential by identifying developmental and career opportunities for staff members and challenging the group with new activities and/or tasks.
  • Serves as a key integration point for accounting, A/P, A/R, PR and all other subsystems regarding Financial Reporting. Responsible for the timely and accurate submission of all actual financial information to Germany. Coordinates prompt resolution of any type of actual cost inquiries from Cost Center Managers, Business Support and Functional Controlling.
  • Works with staff to provide our external auditors with answers to their various business-related questions and financial schedules.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting to direct the development of key system and improvements for the financial system tools (SAP, PaRS etc.) as well as process improvements within the department.
  • Establishes good relationships with local management and supports the perception of the high quality of the U.S. Accounting organization.
  • Develops and maintains a 100% accuracy mindset and a high team spirit within the group.
  • Completes special projects upon request
  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 10 years of accounting and finance experience with a combination of Public/Corporate accounting and auditing.
  • CPA or CMA (or international equivalent) preferred.
  • Proven management and supervisory skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to gain the respect of staff members.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to train staff and other financial personnel.
