Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world's most advanced commercial and military turbine engines, is seeking talented manufacturing engineers to join our organization. This position is within Pratt & Whitney's Connecticut based Hot Section Module Center manufacturing engineering organization. The manufacturing engineer will support cooled turbine airfoil parts manufacturing at Pratt & Whitney East Hartford, with interaction at our satellite facilities in New York and Pennsylvania, as we ramp production on our Geared Turbo Fan and F135 engine programs along with delivering spare parts for our legacy military and commercial engines.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

* Partial ownership of one or more of the following processes: Grind, EDM/LASER drilling, airflow/waterflow inspection, CMM & non-contact inspection (optical, structured light, LASER, thermal imaging)

* Identify & implement shop floor process improvements that increase output and reduce overall costs, including automation and robotics

* Assist in creating and maintaining shop floor work instructions (including specifications, engineering changes, process control, and tooling definition/requirements)

* Review process yields and rates, and make suggestions for improvement

* Participate on manufacturing reviews, transitions, new product introduction reviews, and manufacturing standard work improvements

* Provide manufacturing process options, propose trade studies, evaluate manufacturing process maturity

* Evaluate tooling, special test and inspections concepts and equipment

* Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives that support continuous process improvement

Qualifications Ideal candidates are energetic, flexible, ethical, creative, eager to learn and possess a positive attitude.

Successful candidates have a strong manufacturing engineering background and shop operations experience, and a desire to work with both engineering and operations on the shop floor.

Knowledge of manufacturing and inspection methods, process controls, understanding of Lean or Six Sigma tools is preferred.

7-10 years of experience.

Education Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related technical field is required.
