Security & Rights Collaborative Announcement of Positions The Security & Rights Collaborative is a collaborative grantmaking program supporting a diverse field of organizations working to address profiling, discrimination, hate crimes, anti-Muslim bigotry and xenophobia. Through strategic grantmaking and programming, the SRC works to build the capacity of organizations representing Muslim, Arab, and South Asian (MASA) communities to protect rights, advance policy reform, and shift the narrative around issues at the core of our democracy and society. We are seeking two additional staff members for our Security & Rights Collaborative work: Officer for Partnerships Program Assistant These positions will be located in Washington, DC or New York City. OFFICER FOR PARTNERSHIPS We are looking for the right Officer for Partnerships to join our team at an exciting point in our evolution as a program. This role is focused on fundraising - that is, getting out and talking to prospects about the IMPACT of SRC, and generating results from those conversations. This is the farthest thing from a desk job! In fact, we want someone in this role who feels like their seat's always on fire - they HAVE to be out of the office as much as possible! Really, truly enjoys engaging donors and is a phenomenal relationship builder.- which we define as effectively telling the story of the Security & Rights Collaborative and being bold in asking for support for our mission. This is a person who loves sharing stories about the good things people are doing and presenting opportunities for engagement. Has an enormous level of persistence - he or she just keeps going at the goal, despite roadblocks and rejections, and can keep others moving toward the goal as well. This person has encountered rejection, and is constantly thinking about what new strategies to try out in their next approach, or how to gently plow through resistance. Is a strategic organizer - rather than being too focused on all the detail, he or she concentrates on outlining the strategy and most critical details needed to work each prospect or opportunity, from initial preparation and phone call to the final follow-through. This person is methodical without letting process slow them down. More information about qualifications and a detailed job description can be found at: PROGRAM ASSISTANT This is a small team, and the Program Assistant will have the opportunity to dive into and learn about all aspects of grantmaking and fundraising, and about the rapidly evolving MASA field. As a result, this position requires someone who jumps in wherever needed and gets things done, someone who is proactive and can work with little direction. This is an exciting position for someone who wants to build a career in philanthropy, and gain the understanding of how to do this work effectively. In terms of who will succeed in this position, the ideal candidate Wants to have a big impact! This person is passionate and knowledgeable about the Muslim, Arab, and South Asian (MASA) community in the U.S., or has significant knowledge of relevant racial justice, civil liberties, and national security efforts.Is organized. This person LOVES handling details and multiple projects running in parallel, methodically working through checklists (and creating them as well).Is able to nudge - this is a person whose enthusiasm contagious, and whose understanding of the details lends credibility to requests. This person has been in roles, whether on staff or as a volunteer, where they had to lead through influence rather than authority. Is a problem-solver at heart. This person loves working in entrepreneurial or small start-up environments, where not everything is figured out, and you have to be creative with resources. They see gaps or unmet needs quickly, and almost automatically come up with ideas to fix those things (and often just run with them!).
