Crew Chief - Event Production
With national visibility and local accolades as the tri-state area’s top source for family friendly entertainment, Historic Hudson Valley (www.hudsonvalley.org) educates and entertains more than 275,000 visitors a year through our school programs, house tours, and large-scale special events like the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, Horseman’s Hollow, and LIGHTSCAPES. Our in-house production department is responsible for creating and delivering our family entertainment events.
Historic Hudson Valley, Westchester County’s largest cultural organization, seeks an experienced Crew Chief to assist with the planning, construction and delivery of various event elements. In concert with the Event Production Manager, the Crew Chief will establish project priorities, work schedules, timelines, plans and equipment requirements for each event. The Crew Chief will assist with event set-up and take down, ensure safe working conditions, maintain equipment, tools and machinery, manage teams of 3 -5 staff members and participate in the value engineering of event elements.
This part-time seasonal position (March – December) requires evening, weekend and holiday availability. You must be in good physical condition… you will have to do some heavy lifting and moving — of the 50-pound box variety — and be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather. High school diploma (or GED), degree, certificate or apprenticeship in construction trade or construction management is required. Five years of experience as a crew chief in the event production or theatre environment (i.e. stagehand, set design) and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, email and project management software is required. Ability to read blueprints and schematics is a plus. Compensation: $25 per hour.
