Associate Vice President of Fund Development Overview: The NYC Leadership Academy (NYCLA) is a nationally-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a clear vision: to support greater academic success for students across the nation - especially the most vulnerable - through high-quality school leadership. We are firmly committed to preparing and supporting educational leaders so they can catalyze and sustain effective change across their organizations and educate students effectively. We do this by building the capacity of education systems across the country to develop and support their own leaders and bringing a standards-based and social justice-rooted approach to leadership development. Since 2003, more than 40 school districts, state departments of education, universities, and nonprofits in 28 states have collaborated with NYCLA to prepare and support leaders who can transform schools and ensure all students have access to effective instruction and are nurtured socially, emotionally and academically. Position Summary: NYC Leadership Academy (NYCLA) is seeking an experienced and a talented development executive to serve as the Associate Vice President of Fund Development, who is the day-to-day strategy lead and relationship manager for the organization's national fundraising efforts. The Associate Vice President of Fund Development is responsible for conceptualizing, crafting, and conveying - to a variety of public and private sector funders - NYCLA's strategic and operational funding priorities and will develop and implement successful fundraising strategies that are part of a long-term fundraising plan to aggressively grow and diversify NYCLA's funding streams Responsibilities: Develop and implement the organization's development, marketing and communication strategy Grow our portfolio of donor relationships by identifying, cultivating strong, positive relationships with diverse base of prospective funders, especially among high net worth individuals, foundations and corporate donors establishing a robust donor base Maximize systems for communicating with all prospective and current donors Guide the organization's approach to researching, framing, writing, and building budgets , grant proposals, grant reports, briefings, and associated documents Work closely with the cabinet, CEO and Board to identify new funders, formulate grant concepts, and develop and execute grant proposals and reports Develop and maintain systems to ensure accountability and help evaluate the effectiveness of the organization's development programs Collaborate with program staff in the development and execution of proposals Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders and diverse audiences Represent the organization adeptly, strategically, and professionally Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (advanced degree strongly preferred) 7 years of tangible experience of having managed, expanded, and cultivated relationships with multiple donor sources.Highly developed strategic systems perspectiveResults oriented with a proven track record in managing multiple projects with tight deadlines and delivering high quality resultsExceptional communication skills combined with a proven ability to garner support Extensive experience developing strategic grant concepts, managing large government and foundation grants as well as proposals and proposal budgets Knowledge of fund development in an educational environment Proven partnering skills Deep understanding of RFPs, proposals and reporting SALARY & BENEFITS: The NYC Leadership Academy offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience and comprehensive benefits including a generous paid time off package and a fully employer funded health/dental/vision plans.
