Three Words That Can Make or Break You - Do Your Research

Published: Sep 28, 2015

One of the easiest ways to sabotage your next interview is by showing up unprepared. Here are the top three ways to prepare for your next interview:

  1. Go beyond the mission statement:
A recruiter can sense whether you have simply memorized their company's mission statement or taken the time to get to know their organization. Go beyond the website's homepage. Read about their team. Check out recent press releases. Get a sense for their culture. The more serious you are with your research, the more serious you are about the position.
  2. Know their competitors:
How can you go above and beyond your competition? Get a sense for who the top competitors are in the industry. Show your interviewer how strong your initiative is by illustrating how much you can learn about their competition.
  3. Prepare questions:
Before your interview comes to a close, you will be asked: "Do you have any questions for me?" If you are stumped, recruiters will assume you haven't invested any time in researching their company. To be safe, prepare a list of questions that showcase how well-versed you with their company.

Good hunting.
