About the Opportunity A medical center in New York City is actively seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their growing Emergency Department as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). In this role, the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will be assuming responsibility for nursing care and outcomes for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients, via the nursing process in collaboration with other members of the health team. Company Description Medical Center Job Description The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will: * Serve as a consultant to the nursing staff, physicians and other health care providers in area of specialization. * Plan and/or participate in interdisciplinary patient care conferences / rounds * Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care standards within the area of specialization * Work closely with hospital medical staff, administration, department heads, patient care managers and nursing staff to coordinate all aspects of Emergency and Trauma Care * Maintain current knowledge and competency in area of specialization and professional practice * Collaborate with Nursing Administration and Nursing education regarding educational requirements of nursing staff * Provide individual and small group instructions related to nursing care techniques and procedures * Clinically evaluate and integrate appropriate research findings and best practices into nursing practice * Develop and implement studies relevant to clinical nursing issues in collaboration with other health care professionals * Participate in the evaluation of patient care through quality assurance / performance improvement activities * Coordinate staff competency plan in collaboration with nursing education Required Skills * 5+ years of progress Nursing experience; 2+ years of Emergency Room Nursing experience * Master's Degree in Nursing * NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license * NYS Clinical Nurse Specialist registration / certification * BLS certification * Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills * Patient oriented * Great interpersonal skills * Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) * Strong attention to detail * Highly organized
