About the Opportunity A healthcare network in New York City is actively seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) for a promising Per Diem position within their Critical Care Unit / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (CCU / PACU). Working alongside the Surgeon and Anesthesiologist, the Per Diem Critical Care Unit / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (CCU / PACU RN) will be responsible for assessing patients of the unit and providing them with the appropriate care, as needed. Company Description Healthcare Network Job Description The Critical Care Unit / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (CCU / PACU RN) will: * Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order * Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure * Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff * Assess patients' condition after a surgery has been performed * Answer patients' questions and ensure that they are kept comfortable * Develop individualized care plans based on each individual patient's condition * Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor * Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications * Perform intervention duties in cases of post operative emergencies * Record sedation levels and body temperature * Manage blood and fluid transfusions and draw specimens * Change bandages and dress surgical wounds Required Skills * 2+ years of experience working in a Per Diem Critical Care Unit / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (CCU / PACU RN) * Associate's Degree in Nursing * NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license * BLS certification * Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills * Patient oriented * Great interpersonal skills * Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) * Strong attention to detail * Highly organized Desired Skills * Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
