GENERAL DESCRIPTION - PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The Infrastructure Support Engineer will provide effective IT assistance across all aspects of the business and will provide back up and support to the Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer. This position will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the Microsoft server and Desktop operating systems, and Microsoft Exchange environment plus general maintenance of all IT related hardware/software. This position provides exposure to a broad range of IT related projects and activities. The Infrastructure Support Engineer will be a member of the Infrastructure team and report to the Director of Infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operational Management

* Install, support and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi controllers, firewalls, servers and PC's.

* Diagnose and solve issues, often under time constraints. Adhere to all established Business Service Level Agreements

* Provide network and host based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management and administration.

* Provide network documentation.

* Perform regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions.

* Monitor network usage, anticipate problems and suggest or implement solutions.

* Manage projects and tasks in Track-It! (Ticketing system)

* Implement the necessary controls and procedures to protect information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction.

* Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices

* Participate in an on call schedule for off-hours support of key systems. Rotating weekly schedule)

* Remain current on emerging technologies via professional groups, trade magazines, internal and external training, independent research and study, and other avenues available.

* Perform other tasks as directed by the Director of Infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* 5+ years expertise in implementing, administering and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, servers and PC's.

* Intermediate skill with configuration, installation, troubleshooting and supporting:

* Networking equipment, Wireless (Wi-Fi) equipment, computers, servers and peripherals

* Hands on technical experience working with VPN technologies.

* VMWare administration experience

* Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and on line resources.

* Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with customers, associates, and senior management

* Ability to make sound and logical judgments.

* Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

* Able to conduct research into issues and products as required.

* Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

* Hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware including Servers, PCs, Macs, LAN Switches, VOIP, Mobile Devices etc..

* Knowledge of current protocols and standards, including EDI, FTP,TCP/IP stack, HTTP, MPLS, etc.

* Application support experience with Exchange, VMWare, Active Directory, SQL, Solar Winds, EMC Storage, etc.

* Comfortable documenting and explaining network topologies

* Understand and diagram existing network

* Diagram, explain and plan for future upgrades

* Keep all documentation current and relevant

* General understanding of VOIP equipment and operation

* Intermediate skill with configuration, installation, troubleshooting and supporting:

* Networking equipment

* Wireless (Wi-Fi) equipment

* Experience with the following:

* Windows server: Design, implement, troubleshooting, administration

* MS SQL Server: Design, implement, troubleshooting, administration

* SharePoint Administration

* Active directory design, implementation, troubleshooting(including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, authentication, trusts, mixed client integration (Windows, Linux, Apple)

* Instant messenger infrastructure

* Ant-Virus: planning, deploying, administration

* MS Exchange: design, implementation, troubleshooting

* E-mail archiving: planning, deploying, administration

* Anti-Spam: design, implementation, troubleshooting, administration

* SAN: design, implement, troubleshooting, administration

* VMware: design, implement, troubleshoot

* Patching: design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise level automated patching.

* Patches to Windows servers and client operating systems, ensuring minimal issues by proper testing.

* Experience with routing, switching, vlans, firewall technologies

* Experience with VOIP systems

* Backup systems: processes for proper backup of servers and applications, and restoring methodologies.

* Experience building data centers / power, UPS, racks, AC, security access processes

* Planning and support for systems in a manufacturing environment

* Strong PC support skills.

* Mobile device management/BYOD (Including Apple IOS, Android and Windows Mobile)

* Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and on line resources.

* Able to work in an environment with free roaming animals.

* Pet parent preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
