Technical Sales Representative

Your task structure

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Grow the sales of BYK products in the United States, focused on Graphic Art (Printing Ink and Inkjet) manufacturers. Depending on experience, position could involve coverage of Mexico and Canada as needed.

* Obtain knowledge of and successfully represent all of the BYK additives technology in the territory.

* Obtain and report competitive pricing and activity in the territory.

* Keep and maintain an aggressive schedule of sales calls within the territory. Overnight travel is expected to be 50-60%. Can be higher or lower depending on location of candidate.

* Plan, attend, and participate in industry trade shows, professional organizations, seminars, and other events for customers.

* Work closely with both domestic and European technical personnel to advance new and existing BYK technology in the territory. Travel and training to US and German labs would be a part of this role.

* Keep and share an accurate calendar of his/her business related activities

* Generate and submit at least 5 call reports/week

* Report on competitive pricing and activities in the territory

* Schedule and make calls with the Ink End Use Manager, Business Line Manager, Key Account Manager and/or other sales reps as needed.

* Generate and act upon new leads, sample requests and generating technical service requests.

* Initiating new product developments together with Enduse Manager.


* Must be able to recognize and act upon new business potentials

* Must be highly skilled at closing new business

* Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers at all levels of the organization.

* Must be able to drive a car and fly on a plane, coping with conditions of extensive, international and overnight travel.

* Able to speak with technical confidence about BYK products

* Give technical presentations

* Must have sale/technical background in associated market for the position.

* Minimum Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a technical focus. Other degrees considered with demonstrated sales success in identified markets.

* At least 5 years of related experience.

* Preferred candidates located in the Midwest or located near a major airline hub.
