Job Mission

Under close supervision fabricates and/or polishes precision optics using a variety of
equipment and verifies accuracy of finished products
Supports process development testing

Job Description

Is able to perform dimensional inspection of products
Is able to perform visual inspection of optical surfaces under high intensity lamps
Performs multiple tasks simultaneously
Offers suggestions for process improvements
Has intermediate knowledge in the use of interferometers
Performs intermediate arithmetic calculations
Has intermediate blueprint reading and comprehension skills
Has intermediate computer skills
Develops a technical expertise
Performs introductory training of entry level/apprentice technicians
Is able to perform all functions of Optical Fab Technician 1
Provides input on 8S activities in area

Education

High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience required

Experience

Machinist certificate preferred
3-7 years related technical experience preferred

Personal skills

Trains lower level technicians
Works in a structured way
Communicates professionally
