The Financial Analyst assists with reporting to management monthly and/or year-to-date activity through the internal reporting and variance analysis process, coordinating and providing support during the annual budget process and quarterly reforecasting process. This individual provides support during the annual budget process in the preparation consolidated detailed departmental budget templates, master budget, capital expenditures and expense allocation budgets.

* Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Supports in the maintenance of departmental level budget templates, master budget, and capital expenditures budget for annual consolidated budgeting process.

* Collaborates with department managers to obtain full detail and support of all budget assumptions, estimates, and actual-to-budget tracking.

* Supports in the preparation of monthly financial close variance reports on a departmental and entity basis; examines communication provided by department management for actual-to-budget variances, and aids in the communication back to Senior Management.

* Supports in the preparation of quarterly/periodic customized reports to cross functional teams, customized R&D program reports as requested by Senior Management as well as ad hoc reports as requested.

* Performs general ledger/ cost center research and analysis on variances in question by departmental management.

* Assists in gathering data and creating quarterly/periodic consolidated reforecast through discussion with departmental management, analysis of variances, and department forecast templates.

* Assists with the consolidated budget presentation preparation to be provided to C-level management and ultimately the Board of Directors.

* May collaborate with internal stakeholders and departmental management across the organization.

* Acts as a liaison between, subsidiaries including Acorda's other locations for internal reporting, budgeting and forecasting periodically throughout the reporting year.

* Assists with the month-end close process as required which may or may not include recording journal entries and preparing account reconciliations.

* Assists with SOX compliance by following Finance internal requirements.

Education and/or Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

* Minimum of one to three years of experience in public and/or private accounting or finance.

Qualifications:

* Demonstrated competence to handle a wide range of finance related responsibilities.

* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Computer Skills:

* Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, and have intermediate Excel skills e.g. V-Lookups, If Statements, and Pivot tables.

* Prior experience with general ledger systems and business intelligence tools is preferred.

* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
