##### **Position Summary** Position Summary and Special Duties

•Plan and lay out a variety of complicated machine and bench operations connected with the construction, alteration, fitting, assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of all types of specialized tooling, jigs, fixtures, molds, parts, gages and company designated or purchased machines and equipment where considerable experimental and prototype work is involved\. Start working with semi\-finished parts and finish to very close tolerances, generally \+\. 0001\.

•ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and technical data\. Design is usually available but considerable development work as to mechanism and details is required; make sketches, interpret drawings, specifications, plan and lay out work where no design is available\.

•Perform a wide range of machine tool operations to close tolerances to produce new or repair parts\. \- Making correct decisions as to fits, finishes, machining and assembly sequences; working out mechanisms and details and maintaining very close tolerances and interrelationships\.

•Strong CNC programming and operation and or strong EDM \(Wire and or Sinker\) Experience preferred\.

•Be able to move \(push, pull, or otherwise manipulate\) materials up to 75 1bs

•Operate a machine tool while standing for a period of ten to twelve hours and use hands to reach overhead to perform necessary functions\. Be able to coordinately use both hands in a sitting and or standing position to operate a surface grinder\. Be able to bend, stand, and climb in order to assemble machines, tools, dies, and/& molds\.

•Operations require skilled bench work involving filing, scraping, grinding, lapping, fitting, timing, assembling, and adjusting in order to produce workable parts and units\.

•Be able to work independently on complex jobs\. Perform major maintenance and repair on all types of machines and equipment in all departments\. Diagnose mechanical or operational difficulties and determine extent of repairs necessary\. Tear down units and repair or replace worn or broken parts; reassemble and try out unit\. Visualize finished job, make necessary calculations and select allowances for material flow, spring, shrinkage, machining, and finishing\.

•Mark and report for correction any errors in blue prints that would interfere with production\. Interface with Engineering Department on alterations, de\-bugging and design changes\.

•Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition\. Confer with proper supervision as to the solution of specific problems\.

##### **Required Skills and Experience** Minimum Qualifications:

In order to be considered for the Tool & Die Maker Position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

•Applicants must possess a State Approved journeyman card as a Tool and Die maker with a minimum of 10 years' experience\.

•Applicants must have Prior machine building and assembling experience\.

•Applicants must have Strong CNC programming and operation and or strong EDM \(Wire and or Sinker\) Experience

•Applicants must be physically able to perform the work of the trade\.

•Applicants must display a sense of commitment and a positive attitude as a skilled Tool & Die Maker\.

•Applicants must have a demonstrated mechanical aptitude\.
