We have a new Associate Paralegal position open in our Hartford, CT office working with our Legislative Analysis Unit,



The Associate Paralegal is responsible for reviewing resources and identifying new laws, regulations, bulletins, judicial decisions and other regulatory guidance that are applicable to Aetnas businesses.



Fundamental Components:

The successful candidate for this Paralegal position will work in the Legislative Analysis Unit and will be responsible for: Communicating results of reviews to a team of attorneys and Paralegals for consideration Providing assistance and support to the legal staff by gathering information concerning the law and Aetnas businesses, products, and services. Interfacing with individuals at all levels of the organization in the course of daily responsibilities Logging and tracking disposition of initial review of applicable laws, regulations, bulletins, judicial decisions, and other regulatory guidance Communicating information to business areas and others and responding to inquiries. Analyzing, investigating, and solving problems in the course of daily responsibilities Completing ad hoc projects



BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

1-3 years experience in corporate healthcare or insurance environment or in a law firm specializing in health law -Experience in legal and internet research -Superior verbal and writing skills -Strong organizational and project management skills -Ability to manage an independent workload -Proficient in use of technology, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat -Experience in process improvement



EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.



LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Legal/Paralegal Certificate is desired





FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCES

Functional - Legal/Compliance - law searches/1-3 Years

Functional - Legal/Compliance - state/federal legislation implementation/1-3 Years





TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCES

Technical - Other/Lexis Nexis/1-3 Years/End User
