**Job Description**

As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: providing technical expertise for our environmental permitting, NEPA, and wetlands-related work, primarily for public sector water/environmental projects in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast Region; independently deciding on engineering/scientific problems and methods related to environmental permitting, restoration, and wetlands; representing CDM Smith in meetings with clients and regulators to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work; acting as a mentor for lower level employees; assisting new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning with CDM Smith sales personnel; planning, developing, coordinating, and directing multiple tasks (e.g., preparing and submitting large and complex permit applications and coordinating field events); coordinating and reviewing the work of a small staff of scientists/engineers (typically 5 to 10); estimating manpower needs, and scheduling and assigning work to meet task completion and deliverable submittal dates; performing complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques, procedures, processes, products, equipment, and methods; developing and evaluating plans and criteria for a permitting and wetlands-related projects and activities to be carried out by others.

***The candidate's office location will be Edison NJ; however, candidates located in geographies near that city may also be considered.

**Minimum Qualifications**

4 - 10 minimum years of experience since B.S. Requires experience with NEPA and Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting regulations, state wetland regulations, ecological-wildlife habitat restoration, wetlands delineation/restoration, and habitat assessments per Endangered Species Act or state equivalent on water/environmental services projects primarily in the public/municipal sectors. Requires the ability and expertise to use advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of environmental science and permitting resulting from progressive experience. Certification and/or Master's degree in an appropriate specialty field is required for scientist positions (e.g. Professional Wetland Scientist, Certified Professional Soil Scientist, New England Regional Soil Science Certificate, etc.). In lieu of Certification or a Master's degree, the applicant must be qualified and willing to pursue appropriate certifications within one year of the date of hire.
