Dir Molecular PathologyJob Description Provide senior oversight for the professional and scientific activities in the Division of Molecular Pathology at Northwell Health, Inc. ('Northwell) including adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements by such agencies as NYS DOH, CLIA, CAP, EPA, OSHA, and JCAHO.
Responsibilities: 1.
Provide molecular pathology/virology consultation services and technical leadership to the clients and staff of the Staten Island University Hospital laboratory service.
2.
Provide advice and consultation to physicians on the selection of appropriate tests and the interpretation of the results of tests used in the investigation, diagnosis and monitoring of treatment and disease.
3.
Provide guidance, continuing education and lectures to laboratory personnel and housestaff.
4.
Identification of and participation in independent and collaborative research and development in molecular pathology/virology.
5.
Teach and supervise the residents in molecular pathology/virology.
6.
Monitor the quality of molecular pathology/virology; Review of QC/QA reports; Ensure that all corrective actions are carried out.
7.
Ensure satisfactory performance in appropriate internal, NYDOH and CAP quality assessment schemes at all 3 laboratory sites.
8.
Assist in decision making concerning the acquisition and maintenance of molecular pathology/virology equipment.
9.
Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of short and long-term expansion and improvement in molecular pathology/virology services.
10.
Oversee the development and validation of policies and technical procedures.
11.
Oversee the implementation, evaluation and validation of new molecular pathology/virology equipment and methods.
12.
Assist in the management of staff and resources in molecular pathology/virology department.
13.
Participate in medical rounds and other clinical committees on matters pertaining to Molecular Pathology/Virology/Laboratory Medicine or as directed by the Department Chair.
14.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of clinical, scientific and technical developments in molecular pathology/virology to ensure that our services meet the most recent standards.
15.
Participates in the recruitment of attending faculty in the department as well as technical staff for the molecular pathology/virology sections.
Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D. or M.D. equivalent, Training in Molecular Biology Laboratory. At least 3 years experience in Molecular Biology or Virology. Category: Healthcare , Keywords: Medical Laboratory Director
