Position Description:

AIG has an opportunity for a Senior Paralegal position in the Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Department, a recipient of the New York Law Journal's "Outstanding Legal Department" award. This job is located in Wilton, CT. The paralegal will provide support, under the supervision of an attorney, with respect to a wide variety of legal projects across different legal practice areas within the global capital markets group, with a special emphasis supporting derivatives and securities activities.

Specific responsibilities include:

+ Assist attorneys in the negotiation of certain transaction documents with third parties, which may be primary responsibility based upon ability (with oversight by attorneys), including ISDA master agreements, and associated credit support documents, repurchase agreements and securities lending agreements;

+ Assist attorneys in the legal review of transaction documentation, including transaction confirmations, and ensuring compliance with recent regulations governing derivatives trading activity - in conjunction with the Compliance and other support groups;

+ Assist attorneys and the Compliance group in integrating IT solutions and enhancements for legal data base analysis, storage and retrieval; assist attorneys in the analysis of agreements and transaction documentation for specific provisions and in response to managerial requests.

+ Provide administrative support for a broad range of legal matters, including corporate governance matters, assisting with corporate database management, bank account administration, completion and administration of tax forms, transaction closing, legal invoice processing, file management/litigation support, class action claims filings, and UCC continuation tracking for lease transactions.

+ Expected to independently and thoroughly handle the above matters with only broad attorney oversight (after appropriate training), including independent issue spotting and thinking "out-of-the-box", as well as be able to work well as part of a team.

Position Requirements:

* 5-8+ years of experience in corporate law department or law firm with Capital Markets and/or Derivatives exposure strongly preferred.

* Bachelors degree is required, preferably from a selective institution.

* Will consider candidates that are recent graduates with less paralegal experience from a highly selective institution with a bachelors degree and interest in the legal profession. * Paralegal certificate is not required. * Must have strong organizational and communication skills; * Be attentive to detail; * Proficient in Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of data bases or legal IT systems a plus.
