**_OVERVIEW_**

The Production Foreman reports directly to the Packaging Manager and directly supervises the Production and Packaging hourly Staff. The Foreman will also have daily contact with Logistics, Sales, Corporate, and other Supervisory and Engineering Staff members.

**_DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES_**

* Monitor daily packaging operation with respect to overall efficiency, product requirement, and current established production schedule.
* Direct the daily activities of the packaging hourly staff and assist in troubleshooting production issues.
* Communicate daily expectations to the hourly staff and assure compliance of standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
* Tour Packaging and Production areas throughout the operating shift to assure proper utilization of resources and to maximize production efficiencies.
* Communicate operating conditions to Superintendent or Manager to assure maximum operating efficiency.
* Develop and implement plans to improve substandard performance.
* Determine long range needs of the department and develop plans that implement solutions which lead to continuous improvement.
* Develop and maintain an effective organization and good working climate by organizing the staff into a working team of motivated employees.
* Conduct performance evaluation on a timely basis and establish performance goals.
* Develop and lead employees in a transition to a culture of accountability through use of monthly and or weekly measureable results as benchmarks for success.

**_WORK EXPERIENCES_**

* Minimum of five years' experience working in a packaging production environment.
* Must be highly motivated and enthusiastic, establish a high level of credibility with employees and customers, work safely at all times, possess the ability to gain consensus from others, and demonstrate a history of continuous improvement in prior positions.
* Must be available to work shifts, weekends, overtime and holidays as needed.

**_EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS_**

* A formal education in the field of management, engineering or related science including Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques is desired but not mandatory.
* **_SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY_**

* Supervises hourly staff.

**_ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)_**

* The individual must possess a working knowledge of Packaging Machine Maintenance and Operations, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, (SAP preferred), Quality Systems Management, spreadsheets, and word processing as well as having strong communication, problem resolution and organizational skills.
