The Polaris Lead Solution Architect actively works to ensure all Polaris program work streams have clearly defined, documented, approved, and supported solutions that support all in-scope phases of the overall Polaris initiative. From ideation through delivery, they work with the Polaris value stream and capability leads to maintain solution alignment to program objectives. Additionally, the Polaris Lead Solution Architect is accountable for documenting each architecture transition required to move the Polaris landscape to the optimal target state supporting each Polaris release.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Provides leadership and direction to the Polaris enterprise solution architects, enabling them to align solutions to architectural best practices and guidelines and when necessary define/modify the architecture to accommodate solution needs
* Ensures the solution of architecture components (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture) for Polaris programs align with Polaris, UHC, and Optum architecture blueprints and reference architectures
* Ensure Solution Architects are adhering to the specified design/established standards by coordinating and participating in detailed reviews and providing feedback & approval
* Contributes to UHC overall Enterprise Architecture vision with the Polaris solution activities and ensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged; contributes to the holistic vision of UHC Enterprise Architecture
* Works with Polaris business architects to support the solution alignment with business architecture information, including capabilities, business functions, information usage, and technology support relating to Polaris business capabilities and Polaris value streams
* Responsible for partnering or influencing Polaris business leadership without direct authority regarding optimal solution recommendations
* Understands Polaris business and technology needs sufficiently to build a trusted advisor relationship with Polaris leaders, providing coaching and guidance on solution recommendations and architecture transitions
* Quickly and effectively understands business requirements and challenges and translates them into solution recommendations
* Serves as an integral member of the Polaris team that helps develop a consolidated business-driven technology roadmap

Required Qualifications:

* 10+ years of experience with successfully delivering enterprise-class solutions
* 7+ years of experience documenting enterprise-class solutions using industry standard modeling tools and practices, such as UML or Archimate
* 7+ years of experience in a healthcare or health insurance related industry
* TOGAF 9 Certification
* Experience leading live and virtual solution/design workshops to discuss and document solution activities, decisions, and outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior Consulting or Solution Architecture team leadership experience
* UML 2 experience
* Archimate 3 experience
