SODEXO Health Care is seeking an Executive Chef for our Health Care account located in Hartford, Connecticut. Saint Francis Care - Saint Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, offer acute care & rehab services. Combined, they are licensed for 617 beds. Specialties include; Behavioral Health, Cardiovascular, CT Joint Replacement Institute, Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Physical Medicine & Rehab, Primary Care, Surgery & Women Infants service lines. They are a major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of CT Schools of Medicine and Dentistry.

Responsibilities include a focus on patient dining, retail operations and catering. Previous hospital food service and At Your Request or room service experience preferred. Strong interpersonal skills a must as position interacts across the organization with clients, patients, and staff. Executive Chef will be involved with and responsible to manage the daily operations of the kitchen, implement production processes, provide oversight to catering events, properly manage food and labor costs and have a thorough working understanding of HACCP, all to exceed patient, customer and client expectations. Best qualified candidate possesses excellent leadership and communication skills. It will required that this position be may at times be hands on to produce outstanding and high quality food and dining experiences. The successful candidate must possess skills to develop and implement menus and have the ability to handle multiple priorities.

Position Summary

Designs, supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel in the largest accounts or in an account requiring a highly skilled Executive Chef. This position is recognized as the technical expert, teacher and trainer for other chefs and cooks within the account. Selects and develops recipes and other items for clients. Develops menu, implements and trains HACCP, oversees/purchases food, establishes production levels and inventory controls, interviews and hires new chefs, manages/controls food cost issues and offer solutions, may train other chefs outside account. May cook selected items, and plan or price menus. Typically has chefs and cooks reporting to this position.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree

Basic Management Experience - 3 years

Basic Functional Experience - 4 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
