Confidential Executive Officer, University Faculty Senate - The City University of New York The University Faculty Senate (UFS) at The City University of New York (CUNY) is a body of 150 members that represents the faculty of every college in the University. It is the voice and the ears of the faculty on matters of governance and academic policy. Reporting to the faculty Chair of the UFS, the Confidential Executive Officer provides leadership, strategic and long term planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of a wide range of University-wide programs and initiatives, including those related to the UFS development, and also promotes the successful operation of UFS through both regular and ad hoc activities. Key duties include but will not be limited to the following: - Organize and report on meetings of the Executive Committee for the purpose of setting UFS agendas, background material, and discussing appropriate UFS responses to current faculty issues and developments. - Organize and report on monthly plenary meetings of the UFS and staff all standing and special faculty committees. - Write, edit, contribute to and disseminate UFS position statements, recommendations, chair correspondence, and faculty newsletters. - Partner with officials with groups sharing similar interest (such as College Senates, Chancellery and the Borough Presidents' office) in response to press inquiries; and faculty inquires on past, present and pending Board and UFS policies. - Research and analyze all information and communications for appropriate action regarding campus developments and ensure that UFS remains informed as to matters impacting faculty. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required. Other Qualifications: The successful candidate will have the following experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities: Advanced degree in a relevant field of study; At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in administrative, academic or policy making positions in a higher education, non-profit or public institution; Broad experience administrating related programs serving diverse adult student populations; Experience managing, training and evaluating staff.
