The candidate will assist with enforcement of the company's IP rights and defense against patent infringement suits, including managing document collection and review, analyzing patents at issue, and reviewing briefs. The candidate will also assist with related adversarial patent office proceedings (both pre-grant and post-grant) in the US, Europe and throughout the world.

The dispute resolution group within the Law Department assists with a broad range of disputes with varying subject matter, however, including patent litigation, securities litigation, products liability, contract disputes, employment matters, insurance issues and other general commercial litigation. Therefore, the candidate must have a diverse skill set and be able to manage general as well as patent litigation matters. The candidate must also work both independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.


The candidate must be able to advocate the company's position in global litigation matters, including establishing good working relationships with outside counsel, independently evaluating the advice of outside counsel, and managing costs. The candidate is expected to respond to general requests for legal advice and clearly and concisely provide legal advice to senior management. The position therefore requires excellent analytical, oral communication, and writing skills.


• Juris Doctorate and admitted to practice law in at least one state is required, New York preferred

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Biochemistry, or Cell Biology is preferred

The ideal candidate will preferably have 3-6 years of patent litigation experience, in law firms, government, or in-house in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry. The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate a strong professional track record and ability to learn new technologies.

Because of the focus on technology within Regeneron, an advanced degree - preferably a Ph.D. - and background in the biological sciences (with an emphasis in antibody technology), as well as patent law, is required. Admission to the New York bar is also preferred.
