## Requirements

* 2-4 years Foodservice experience, preferably in healthcare setting.
* High School Diploma or GED.
Works directly under supervision of First Cook and/or cooks unless otherwise assigned.

## Job Detail

Responsible for the preparation, cooking, and possible baking, of a variety of regular and modified food items for residents/patients, catering, etc. in conjunction with cooks. Responsibilities include following recipes, cooking/preparing proper amounts of food while controlling proper portion control and controlling waste. Sets up, cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area and all equipment used according to Health Department codes. Works on tray line as assigned and performs opening and closing responsibilities in absence of cook.

**Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:**

1. Pulls food and supplies necessary to perform assigned duties.
2. Prepares a variety of regular and modified food items using basic cooking methods such as baking, frying, roasting and broiling, by following standard cooking and food safety/sanitation procedures.
3. Follows recipes and adjust recipes as necessary to meet quantity and modified diet requirements.
4. Sets up, serves, and garnishes food items when requested.
5. Adheres to and keeps proper temperature, production, cleaning and other records as assigned and takes action required by policy.
6. Cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area as scheduled or assigned.
7. Adheres to proper hand washing policies.
