Job Description:

EDI SPECIALIST Reports to : Chief Information Officer Location : Fairfield, CT Status : Exempt Travel : <20% Relocation offered : None SUMMARY: The EDI Specialist full-time position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely communication and delivery of information to and from our business partners (customers / trading partners). The successful candidate will work the Sales, Customer Service and Shipping teams, along with IT, to define, design, implement and support business processes involving EDI transactions within the SYSPRO ERP framework. Additionally, the position includes an operations role, which includes the management and running of daily and overnight SYSPRO and EDI jobs. Lastly, this role can provide guidance as to how to leverage best in class processes and technology to meet our growing and changing business needs. Experience with all types of EDI transactions, both inbound and outbound, is mandatory for this position. A strong working knowledge of SYSPRO would be extremely beneficial, although not a requirement. Prior EDI experience with some of our major trading partners essential, and this long list includes Walmart, Staples, Home Depot, OfficeMax, Grainger, Ace Hardware, Costco, Office Depot, Michaels, etc. Excellent working business process knowledge of Sales Order Processing, Packaging/Carton Detail, Shipping, Transportation, and Inventory Processing are required to support all of the various types of EDI transactions with our trading partners. The successful candidate will participate in the implementation and maintenance of all EDI related projects and transactions within Acme United Corporation, along with the respective SYSPRO operations that result in or process those EDI transactions. Primary responsibilities include: managing and monitoring EDI operations of all trading partners in production, the development and setup of new EDI trading partners, as well as testing and implementing new EDI document with existing customers. On the SYSPRO operations side, overnight processes (most importantly invoicing) must be managed and monitored to ultimately ensure accurate and timely transmission of respective EDI documents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Provide EDI business solutions that are accurate, reliable and timelyWork with EDI, Sales Order Processing, Shipping, Inventory, and Master Data Management teams to ensure meeting EDI transaction requirementsUnderstand Acme United Corporation's SYSPRO EDI Configuration and Setup and perform system analysis based on business requirementsLead and/or participate in technical solutions discussions and strategy on a regular basis; collaborating with other departments in the exchange and transfer of technical knowledge and in the development and evolution of improved EDI processing and meeting EDI requirementsPerform related EDI processing testing, as well as SYSPRO operations testing, in planning for and implementing SYSPRO ERP software upgradesAssists in the development of requisite systems plans and technology architectures.Supports the relevant standards and methodologies.Develops and maintains appropriate documentation.Effective and responsive operation of SYSPRO EDI transactional data, ensuring timeliness and accuracyEnforcement of standards and policies Skills / Competencies:5 plus years EDI knowledge and experienceTechnical Capabilities / Knowledge ofEDI transactions used with our partners, 21 document types in all, largely though 850(POs), 810(invoices) and 856(ASNs)EDI translation tools, esp. Emanio Trading Partner PCUnderstanding of SYSPRO EDI toolsSterling Commerce knowledge a plusSPS Commerce knowledge a plusKnowledge of Communication Tools - E-COM, Cleo LexiCom (AS2, FTP)Automate Software - knowledge a plus (familiarity required)Experience working in M/S Windows environments5 plus years of SYSPRO ERP software a plusIdeally - SYSPRO ERP Software knowledge, particularly as it pertains to supporting EDI via SYSPRO Shipping (EDI) System (Cadacas) module transactions with regard to:Sales Order ProcessingShippingInvoicing ProcessingWorking knowledge of database tool(s), either Access (preferably) or M/S SQL ToolExperience operating and working with business teamsExcellent organization and time management and project management skillsA high sense of the importance of business urgenciesQuantitative / analytical skills and good business judgment Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related fields, not required, but certainly a plus PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for long periods of time Standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling Repetitive use of hands and fingers for keyboard and other related work Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds WORK ENVIRONMENT Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
