Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their team to cover the Northeast Territory.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the execution of business development activities creating an incremental viable, high quality and profitable client base for pharmaceutical, biotech and companion animal business opportunities.
• Promote the company's services via telephone and initially, with senior business development and operations staff, face-to-face meetings, and deliver the highest possible overall sales performance and success of the programs
• Meet defined key performance indicators and sales goals
• Manage, lead and coordinate a team of internal partners
• Identify new clients, market and business opportunities
• Conduct primary research with existing sources to understand target market profiles, competition and viability through desk and telephone research and meetings
• Support meetings identified by management with potential customers with the prospect of bringing in new business
• Research to understand customers' businesses requirements recommend courses of action to fulfill those requirements
• Develop quarterly business development summary/plan for review by senior and executive management
• Set up and design client presentations
• Provide input to proposals and financial offers to increase win probabilities
• Present effectively and knowledgeably across multiple decision makers
• Use customer-centric, well-written and tailored communication
• Provide sales & activities recording in a system as determined by senior management
• Consult with team for best ideas for moving clients' opportunities forward
• Be aggressive in growing repeat business opportunities with existing clients
Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area and 5+ years of proven business development success in a Clinical Contract Research Organization, Phase I, Clinical Labs or Data Management Services Industries; or, MS/MBA with 3+ years of proven business development success in a Clinical Contract Research Organization, Phase I, Clinical Labs or Data Management Services Industries.
Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel
Experience with web-based (Customer Relationship Management) CRM applications
Strong influencing, negotiation, management and leadership skills
Excellent inter-personal skills
Ability to work effectively with a team in selling and delivering services
Understanding of pharmaceutical/device regulatory approval process
Ability to communicate priorities for budget development and clearly written proposals
Ability to conduct meetings in a professional manner
Strong written and oral communication skills
Understanding of the Life Sciences and CRO industry
Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines and demands
Establish and maintain effective business relationships with clients and co-workers
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English required.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and type at a computer.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to travel up to 60% including weekly overnight and occasional weekend travel (e.g. conferences)
• General office working conditions, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
• This position requires frequent and consistent domestic/international travel.
• Must have a valid driver's license with no limitations on driving availability.
