The Solution Development Engineer (SDE) serves as the technical resource to the sales and operations teams responsible for identifying and understanding the energy and mechanical related problems within a customer's facility. The SDE takes site evaluation information and develops comprehensive, cost-effective technical solutions that increase the operational and energy efficiency of the site. This position is also responsible for establishing an ongoing relationship with the customer, providing technical consultation on current systems and future energy and operating efficiencies. To learn more about Honeywell Building Solutions, please visit [please apply online] Tasks and Responsibilities: Conducts in-depth site surveys to identify mechanical and operating inefficiencies within the facility and uses the information to develop and design a comprehensive technical offering that utilizes Honeywells systems/services portfolio and which results in operating efficiency and costs and savings to the customer. Works with the sale team, operations team and consulting engineers in developing the technical and financial components of the job to include accurate cost estimates, and savings and labor requirements. Participates in the final customer presentation by leading the technical discussion of the offering and responding to questions by the customer facility experts. Works with subcontractors and consultants to ensure the quality of work is consistent with the requirements of the job. Meets regularly with the sales and operations teams to review the performance of the customer contract and in turn participates in the preparation and delivery of customer progress reports. Serves as the ongoing technical resource to the customer on energy and operating efficiency matters, and provides advice/counsel on areas where the customer could improve their operations and where HBS can play a role in providing services which will result in savings to the customer. Supports the operations team in the delivery of the contracted projects, resolving design deficiencies and ensuring the energy saving components are achieved. Maintains expert technical understanding of energy and plant/facility operations within the vertical markets (hospitals, universities, schools, industrials, government and commercial buildings) and establishes a high level of confidence in HBS technical competency through ongoing customer and third party partnerships. Determines the feasibility of the project and recommends course of action, including assessment of opportunity and risk areas. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Engineering. 5 years of experience as a Mechanical/HVAC design engineer focusing on energy projects. 3 years of experience estimating construction costs for Mechanical/HVAC projects. Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license, highly desired. Certified Energy Manager (CEM). Proficient with RS Means and other cost estimating tools. Excellent oral and written English language communication and presentation skills. Excellent Computer skills, Proficient in MS Office Suite-(Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and energy modeling software capabilities. Strong project management, estimating and documenting skills.
