Position Summary

The Senior Director Marketing, PNH will be responsible for the overall leadership of the local U.S. PNH marketing team and development of key strategies and tactics to achieve local business objectives. In partnership with Sales, Medical, Regulatory Affairs, and other cross-functional partners, the Sr. Director Marketing, PNH will develop plans and utilize appropriate tools and tactics to execute on disease education, diagnostic initiatives and brand initiatives to improve demand generation and appropriate utilization of Soliris. The incumbent will also drive engagement with key stakeholders including KOLs, patient groups, and other external stakeholders.

Principal Responsbilities

* Lead the development and execute strategic marketing plans in US, implement key marketing initiatives such as disease state education, promotional messaging, non-personal promotion, patient education as well tactics in support of the patient diagnostic strategy and reimbursement support

* Collaborates with legal, regulatory, and compliance stakeholders to ensure compliant development and execution of marketing initiatives

* Lead flawless implementation of all marketing tactics and programs

* Leverage best practices from within the global commercial organization and continually foster learning from industry best practices

* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local and national key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the PNH disease area

* Gain actionable customer insights by working with Market Research team and through customer interaction

* Lead definition of customer segments using data, transforming analytics into customer insights

* Partner with U.S. Sales leadership to implement commercial tactics and monitor their effectiveness

* Develop and maintain strong relationships with other functional areas and internal strategic partners (i.e. Gobal, Sales, Promotional Review Committee, Medical, Regulatory, Clinical, Legal etc.)

* Manage U.S. promotional budget

* Lead agency and external vendor relationships and synergies with aHUS marketing

* Hire, lead, and develop a high-performing team of marketing professionals


* 7+ years marketing experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech industry

* Significant commercial experiences, with demonstrated success in marketing leadership positions is crucial

* Experience with leading-functional teams.

* Highly customer focused: from large accounts to physicians, patients, and payors

* Expert knowledge of local political environment and access issues

* Prior sales or sales management experience is desirable

* Desired experience in hematology and/or nephrology. Rare disease experience is desired.

* A track record of developing and implementing marketing strategies and tactics that have delivered strong commercial results

* Experience in managing external agencies and vendors and managing promotional budgets

* Proven leadership skills and the ability to collaborate in a matrix environment

* Track record that demonstrates personal initiative, the ability to build high performing teams, and the ability to overcome significant challenges

* Demonstrates strong personal ethics and responsibility to purpose

* High level of interpersonal skills and highly adept in both verbal & written communication

* Strong scientific orientation and background


Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business field.

Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) preferred
