If so, consider the Medicare Stars Informatics Consultant role. Reporting directly to the head of the Medicare Stars Business Intelligence team, this critical role is primarily responsible for conducting the analytical studies for Medicare Stars Analytical projects that are used to identify our strengths and pinpoint areas for improvement, and to drive processes that support programs critical to Aetna's Stars success.

Fundamental Components:

1. Defines and delivers analytical solutions in support of Medicare Stars business initiatives that drive short and long term objectives.

2. Designs and conducts analyses and outcome studies using healthcare claims, pharmacy and lab data, employing appropriate research designs and statistical methods.

3. Develops, validates and executes algorithms, statistical models and reporting tools that answer applied research and business questions

4. Create an iterative/ automatic process to answer common evaluation questions for any program

5. Publishing/ presenting the study results to Non-IT business folks


(*) 4-5 or more years of health industry experience

(*) Power-user with SQL and SAS

(*) Strong problem solving, data and analytical skills

(*) Excellent communication skills

(*) Good Excel skills

(*) Good to have Medicare Stars/ HEDIS experience


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Telework Specifications:

Option for telework will be evaluated after a certain period of employment, not initially.


This position will be leading analytical projects in Aetnas Medicare Stars Business Intelligence team and will be responsible for conducting effectiveness studies on various program/ campaigns to improve Stars Rating. Medicare stars team is engaged in all aspects of the analytic lifecycle from program ideation, financial support to the implementation and provides an open environment to identify/ implement new studies. The individual in this position will take a lead in providing recommendations based on the analytic findings.
