This position support students in emotional/behavioral crisis, using developmentally appropriate therapeutic crisis intervention skills for de-escalation. Provides individual attention, support, monitoring of students. Works closely with teachers/primary therapists and implements individualized behavioral plans to help students develop social problem solving, stress management, and anger control skills.


Crisis Responding

Responds to staff requests for support and assistance in managing and de-escalating students in emotional/behavioral crisis using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques.

Documents all instances of crisis intervention and behavior management according to CCMC School policy and procedures.

Team Support

Works cooperatively with team members to seek/share information on student progress and/or difficulty on a daily basis.

Implements individual behavior plans as specified by the teacher and/or primary therapist.

Proactively supports students to reduce likelihood of behavioral crisis.

Actively participates in all Team and Staff meetings as assigned.

Positive Reinforcement Activities

Assists in the implementation of positive reinforcement activities such as Level activities, field trips, clubs and specials.


Assists in the transportation of students when needed to medical appointments, physical education classes, field trips, and emergency transport.

Age-Specific and Cultural Competence

Knowledge of population-specific differences and needs from pre-school through adolescence and ability to apply this knowledge.

Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with students/families and co-workers.
