POSITION SUMMARY: The Staffing Officer will be responsible for the management of hospital workforce to support the strategic direction, financial goals and performance improvement initiatives of Eastern Connecticut Health Network and its affiliates. This role will work collaboratively with Senior Leadership, Managers and other stake holders to ensure the organization consistently achieves staffing targets. Further, the Staffing Officer will be expected to drive organizational alignment through effective deployment of the staffing and scheduling processes while identifying areas of opportunity for operational and financial improvements. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BS or BA required, or 4+ years of work experience such as described below. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare operational capacity. Clinical background helpful. Fundamental knowledge of business management principles involved in Staffing, Scheduling, Time Keeping and Human Resources. Workforce management planning and scheduling experience. Experience with API Healthcare a plus. COMPETENCIES: Strong leadership and organizational skills. Proven ability to meet deadlines. Proficient in Excel and Outlook. Skillful with computer programs and software. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and verbal. Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills. Highly organized and detail orientated. Job-Specific Competency 1. Establish and maintain communication and effective working relationships with leadership and act as company representative as it relates to Workforce Management. 2. Monitor daily and weekly staffing levels, performing continual analysis of current performance (noting recent historical trends), compare with staffing plan and work with leaders to develop action plans to make necessary adjustments to achieve service levels. 3. Provides key recommendations to management with respect to short term and long term strategies for ensuring optimal service levels 4. Execute and monitor action plan roll outs, ensuring they are meeting weekly targets. 5. Analyze business processes to identify and recommend potential scheduling issues and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency. 6. Prepare and provide reports, analysis and recommendations to Senior Leadership on volumes, productivity and staffing levels. 7. Utilize system tools to standardize staffing and scheduling throughout organization 8. Coach existing and train new leaders on meeting staffing targets and developing and leveraging best practices to reach shared goals. 9. Comply with applicable laws, statutes and collective bargaining agreements.
