Working at ESPN is unlike anything else. That's because we're always finding new ways to interact with fans - however and wherever they connect with sports. Content Development editors oversee the daily production of all content in a variety of areas. They work directly with writers (including many of ESPN's biggest names) and partners to assign and edit content in a fast-paced daily environment. They write headlines and evaluate stories for accuracy, fairness and completeness. Editors must be able to develop unique and compelling content that will thrive in both free and premium environments. They must have an awareness of the operations of every ESPN unit in order to collaborate successfully in developing timely and relevant content. Editors are responsible for making judgments on story play and for participating in discussions on how to package content in the news rails on the website.

* 5+ years working in a high-level sports media environment, including previous leadership roles

* Possess a expert-level knowledge of one or more of global soccer, gambling, esports, fighting sports and other sport sections. This includes not just on-field expertise, but a knowledge of the cutting-edge thoughts, trends and writers covering the sport. This also encompasses high-level knowledge of fantasy sports, including but not limited to baseball, NFL, NBA and international soccer.

* Understand and follow closely the latest in statistical research and analytic trends across sports. Must be able to create original research and content based on these trends.

* Strong understanding and appreciation of news and story play.

* Excellent headline writing skills, an understanding of search engine optimization.

* Create and tell stories in a fast-paced, highly competitive environment.

* Work quickly and juggle multiple varied tasks during a typical work day.

* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* A B.S./B.A. degree in communication arts, journalism or new media or equivalent combination of education experience.

* The General Editor will edit multiple stories on a daily basis. These will include copy and line editing roles, as well as managing an overall style and voice.

* Along with the daily editing roles, the General Editor will be involved in short and long-term editorial planning, generating story ideas specifically tailored to each individual writer. They will manage a team of staff and freelance writers, including ESPN talent, creating a diverse budget of expert analysis. In addition, they will work across ESPN, including digital, TV, radio and print groups to fully integrate planning.

* The General Editor will work across multiple content and delivery platforms on to develop in-depth projects, feature packages and daily content.
