The purpose of a Production Team Leader is to supervise a team of Associates responsible for converting raw materials into finished goods in compliance with the Rich's Manufacturing System.

This position plans and coordinates staffing and production scheduling, communicates expectations and schedules to the team, ensures materials, machinery, and tools are available throughout the shift, monitors team adherence to standard work, and drives continuous improvement.

This position is a salaried member of the management team; generally leads 30 - 70 direct reports; hires, coaches, develops, directs, assesses, disciplines, evaluates, and terminates team members; facilitates two way communications; and is responsible for the performance of his or her team.

+ Budget - Understand, plan, and execute labor standards and run rates to optimize product costs.

+ Food Safety - Know the Standard Operating Procedures for each Critical Control Point for each line they are responsible for.

+ Product Quality - Understands product quality checks, that they are completed, and that product meets quality standards.

+ Schedule Attainment - Plan and lead production operations to ensure that the right people, materials, and machinery are available and ready to make the right amount of scheduled product on time.

+ Leadership - Use Rich's Great Leader Drivers to drive results and engagement with a team of Production Associates.

+ Rich Experience - Shows Associates the connection between what they do and Rich's customers.


+ BA/BS degree preferably in Engineering, Technology, Business Management or related technical field of study.

+ 3 years of supervisory experience in a food-processing, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing organization

+ Ability to achieve established goals of Associate Safety, Budget, Food Safety, Product Quality, and Schedule Attainment using Lean Manufacturing tools and practices

+ Ability to lead, motivate, and train associates

+ Knowledge of production scheduling and other production variables such as run-rates, processing times, change-over times, etc.

+ Knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes/procedures and HACCP

+ Strong skills to analyze problems, develop solutions, and successfully implement the solutions

+ Strong verbal and written communications skills

+ Ability to plan, organize, and implement actions to drive continuous improvement

+ Proficient using Excel, an MRP II software such as SAP, and an automated time keeping system such as Kronos


This position directs 30-70 hourly direct labor production associates


This position's key internal customers are Maintenance Team Leaders, QA Team Leaders, Sanitation Team Leaders, Master Planner/Schedulers, and Human Resources Managers. The purposes of the interactions are to gain the support and direction necessary to successfully lead his or her team.

This position does not have regular interaction with external customers.


+ Leads a Production Team of 30-70 Associates

+ Manages an annual direct labor budget


+ Will be required to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing, climbing, reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing, grasping, and balancing as part of production activities out on the floor. Will be required to see and hear well enough to understand Associates questions and respond to their concerns. Will be required to work in freezers, near noisy machinery, near confined spaces as part of daily production activities.
