The Instructional Tutor provides academic and behavioral support and supervision, on an individual basis, to assigned students as directed by the Teacher. Under the supervision of the Teacher, supports the student's program and records data on the student's performance, as directed. May also serve in the capacity of a job coach or substitute teacher as warranted.


Work with a student individually to implement the approved IEP goals and objectives under the guidance of the Teacher.

Record data on student performance as specified by the Teacher and other members of the primary team.

Monitor student's independent seat work and implements instructional objectives in accordance with the student's IEP, under the direction and supervision of the classroom Teacher.

May provide substitute teacher services as required and assigned by an administrator.

Serve as a job coach for assigned student(s) if/when warranted at school and/or within the community.

Demonstrate knowledge in the use of school equipment and materials by performing tasks which support classroom function.

Assist in the implementation of procedures which ensure the safety of students and staff.

Attend Teams when feasible and Staff meetings/training as mandated.

Participate in staff development activities including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training and behavior management. The implementation of such may involve lifting and/or restraining of students in accordance with TCI techniques.

Expand skills and knowledge through involvement in professional workshops and continuing education programs as schedule permits. Encourage team members to adhere to professional standards and to expand competencies.

Demonstrate knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of students age 4-21. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with students/families.

Demonstrate support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CCMC STANDARDS.
