The Wethersfield Public Schools partner with the community and families in fostering our students' ongoing education in a safe and secure learning environment. The overarching responsibilities of the yearbook advisor are all facets of yearbook production. Specifically, the yearbook advisor works with students on the planning, preparation, design, production, final review and sale of the annual yearbook.

The advisor will provide encouragement, support and counsel to this team of students. The advisor must demonstrate the ability to work with students in a collaborative manner, hold strong interpersonal and communication skills, have the demonstrated ability to assist students in organizing and executing team projects and be an advocate for club members and their endeavors.

The advisor will assist students with their efforts covering critical elements of the yearbook including:

* Ensuring student photo-taking coverage is provided at school events throughout the year

* Establishing critical project milestones and team member responsibilities

* Ensuring delivery of results consistent with project timeline

* Assisting with layout/design, editing/proofreading, advertising and copy

* Partnering with the publisher on budget, schedule, deadlines and ensuring deadlines are met

* Supporting the yearbook ordering and distribution process

* Maintaining a budget and ensuring expenditures remain within budget

The advisor should have a working familiarity with photography, graphic layout and use of digital software. Advisor duties will generally fall outside of the normal school day and as such the advisor must have the ability and willingness to work with students during those timeframes. The frequency, timing and duration of team meetings will be agreed upon between the advisor and the team of students participating.
