SUMMARY: Assists with and/or manages a variety of economic development efforts to incentivize businesses to locate in Bristol or to encourage existing Bristol businesses to expand. Provides assistance for community development and/or grant-funded projects. Works with department Director, Board, and staff to establish, promote, and implement economic development efforts, and works with potential and existing Bristol businesses on a variety of projects. Attends meetings, trade shows and other conferences. Conducts research of available economic development opportunities and compiles demographic and statistical information for reports, proposals, and applications. Collaborates with other City departments, and works cooperatively with local/state/federal funding sources. Provides written narrative, financial, and other supporting materials. Researches/composes material for department newsletter or other marketing materials/publications. EDUCATION: Requires Bachelor's degree inpublic administration, marketing, business administration, communication, or related field with demonstrated coursework requiring writing, research, and communication skills. QUALIFICATIONS: Requires 3 or more years of experience in public administration (local, state, and/or federal), business development (sales), not-for-profit administration, or other closely related fields. Must possess knowledge of economic development within a government setting. Must be able to interpret and understand local, state, and federal legislation and regulations. Requires effective interpersonal and public speaking skills to communicate with a variety of audiences. Must have excellent written expression and organizational skills. Requires computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, and other software, Requires demonstrated ability to create reports, studies, and applications. Desire the ability to create charts, graphs, and visual presentations. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Requires valid CT Driver License and access to a vehicle on a daily basis. WORKING CONDITIONS: Regularly works in indoor or office environment and travels to off-site locations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear, and occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made. BENEFITS include Defined Benefit Pension Plan, generous time off & insurance package.
