: Smiths Medical is currently recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our operations team on ** 2 nd Shift.** This opportunity is located at our manufacturing plant in Southington, Connecticut.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of duties required to maintain the building, grounds, equipment and facilities to acceptable quality standards. This position is critical in ensuring that maintenance and repairs are completed to all assigned facilities and equipment in the required timelines.

Install, operate and maintain all plant electrical systems.

Clean and repair interior and exterior of building to include facilities painting and related repairs. Install/remove furniture, furniture systems and all panel systems.

Lay out, construct or fabricate, maintain, and repair plant and facility equipment.

Operate and maintain plant compressed air, water systems.

Install and operate Life Safety and Security systems.

Operates company vehicles and power equipment related to landscaping and grounds maintenance which includes truck/plow/power landscape equipment, tow motors/trucks.

Safely and efficiently plan and perform duties of an electrical nature pertaining to all plant services, and physical plant installation.

Maintain documentation for GMP, OSHA, and EPA as required.

Perform in an acceptable manner involving Trades other than that in which trained.

Maintain assigned equipment and work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion.

Work from blueprints, sketches or verbal descriptions and plans.

This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).

Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

. Position Description & Requirements
Associate degree) or technical equivalent preferred

5-10 years of related experience in facilities maintenance operations.

Possess strong electrical, technical and analytical skills.

Possess State of Connecticut E-2 electrical license or Industrial Electrician license.

Possess State of Connecticut driver's license.

Knowledge of the NEC, Ohm's law and AC/DC circuitry to include troubleshooting is required.

Electrical piping/wiring skills are required for installation of various electrical systems including electrical conduit as well as digital and relay logic circuits is required.

Working knowledge of all trade related equipment, tools and test equipment to include hand tools, ladders manlifts (includes rigging of plant equipment and operation of tow motors and lifts), and any other tools or equipment common to Trades.

Ability to recognize the operation, wiring and applications of various electrical control/devices to include the following: relays, starters, switches (proximity, photo electric, mechanical), plugs, connectors, solid state processors, variable speed drives, power distribution (low/high voltage), AC/DC circuitry motors (AC/DC), and controls, capacitors, over current protection, lighting systems, telecommunication wiring, computer cabling and alternate power sources.

Ability to use power equipment both inside and outside the facility.

Ability to work flexible work schedule, weekend coverage, on-call assignments, and overtime required.

Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the Allen Bradley PLC program.

Recurring physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, stooping, climbing and outdoor work in inclement weather.

Lifting up to 35 lbs. and pushing up to 35 lbs.

Manufacturing : Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposure to biohazards and/or chemicals.
