Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Radiology Administrative Chief of Special Imaging Services will assist in the planning, direction, coordination and control of activities pertaining to MRI. Utilizes imaging equipment for the purpose of creating diagnostic digital images, operates radiographic equipment, evaluates the digital images for accuracy, prepares patient rooms, equipment supplies and medications. Provides patients services using imaging modalities. Assists the Administrative Chief and Department Chief Technologist in developing and implementing departmental objectives. May assume the responsibilities of the Chief Technologist in his/her absence. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Able to prioritize patient procedures in a highly stressful environment. Oversees PACS, scheduling and overall department process.Provides adequate staff for workload.Co-ordinates daily activities of patients through the department and evaluates digital images.. Maintains an organized work area and assures equipment is in working condition. Able to recognize equipment malfunctions, solve them or contact appropriate service engineers. Maintains required records.Able to communicate effectively with patients, staff and physicians.Keeps patients informed, continually either directly or indirectly.Checks for patients identification, questions the patient to obtain a patient history or pre-existing conditions. Always questions female patients regarding pregnancy. Documents all relevant information in Synapse Notes.Takes responsibility for quality of digital imaging examinations produced, supervises staff, educates staff as well as functioning as a staff technologist. Plans and measures progress of project goals with Manager.Maintains appropriate licensure, registration and continuing education requirements. Required Skills EDUCATION:High School Diploma or GED. Graduated from an Accredited technical school (Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Ultra Sound, Radiation Therapy).Requires a valid Radiology license from the State of Connecticut and ARRTAdvanced Certification eligible.
