The Cogstate Senior Instructional Designer will have direct involvement in the planning, design, development, delivery and maintenance of learning programs focused on topics related to Cogstate products as well as creating learning content for Cogstate staff. Learning programs range from eLearning content focused on functionality to instructor-led curriculum, internal and industry training initiatives.

This is a highly consultative and collaborative role in which the Senior Instructional Designer will consult with key stakeholders in the organization to identify education and enablement needs, make solution recommendations, and oversee program execution. The externally-focused learning programs will center on the operational knowledge and skills that sponsor project teams, site staff, and caregivers across the Cogstate's ecosystem need in order to complete their study-related tasks. Internally-focused programs include onboarding, staff development/retention, process improvement, knowledge transfer.


+ Partner with internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) to create engaging and compelling instructor-led courses, eLearning courses (device agnostic) and other training programs/materials

+ For new and existing courses, assist with:

+ Needs-analysis

+ Timeline/resource estimations

+ Course design, production, quality control and implementation

+ Ensure deliverables are completed on time with high quality and adhere to company standards

+ Review and update course content during each product/patch-release cycle

+ Represent Education Services on assigned development projects

+ Work with eLearning vendors on various course development and localization projects and documentation

+ Assist with the development and roll-out of knowledge transfer and train-the-trainer programs to Cogstate staff for product and industry related courses

+ Respond to inquiries using good judgement, tact and courtesy, sometimes in stressful situations


+ Experience creating and evaluating materials in all delivery formats is a must (webinars, workshops, presentations, etc.)

+ Strong analytical and research abilities

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Detail-oriented, organized and concise

+ Ability to understand software products and write structured course content in a consistent fashion

+ Excellent organizational and time management skills

+ Self-motivated, able to assume responsibility and work autonomously in a professional manner

+ Must be able to work with a team, but also excel independently, and have the ability to effectively work in a faced-paced environment with tight deadlines while consistently delivering high quality work

+ Proficient in one or more of the following tools: Captivate, Camtasia, PowerPoint, Word, PhotoShop, Flash is a plus


+ Bachelor's Degree required; or equivalent years of experience

+ Master's Degree in learning preferred (Instructional Design, eLearning Technology, Learning Theory, etc.)

+ Requires a minimum of 7 years of corporate training and curricula/courseware development experience with strong instructional design skills focusing on adult learners

+ SaaS experience (and experience working with Agile software development teams) is a plus

+ Clinical trials industry experience a plus

+ Rater Training experience a plus
