CCS and Otis Engineering, Innovation & Research

The Innovation & Research organization is small, agile centrally held innovation team. We work with United Technology Research Center, Universities, External Research organizations and global business units to identify, develop and demonstrate innovative technology solutions, products, services and intelligent systems through a structured method of innovation. The team also enables organization wide innovation through development and deployment of innovation catalysts that are trained through a well-defined learning and development and certification process.

As part of I&R team and drives long-term organic growth for our businesses by advocating for technically based improvements to requirements from a defined set of regulations, codes and standards. We participate in product development from the earliest stages to assess the regulatory environment and assure that barriers are identified and addresses at the earliest stages possible. We support both CCS and Otis.

We require our team members to help drive changes and improvements to the way in which our products elevate, promote life safety, provide comfort, energy efficiency, environmental and enable high quality food standards that also benefit our business. The selected candidate shall have a blend of intellectual curiosity, research and analytical skills as well as demonstrated teamwork skills.


* Create, improve and maintain standard work for the function. Maintain, update and improve developed database of the I&R organizations

* Support the update and improve our team's SharePoint site

* Manage the development and deployment of innovation catalysts training through a well-defined learning and development and certification process and arrange training.

* Interact and support the UTC Global Government Relations office on selected projects and deliverables

* Work with Sr. Management-level personnel during the Planning Process to create a consolidated I&R View, update monthly forecasts of the team

* Support Sr. Executive in the execution of administrative tasks and staff coordination (expense reports, budget management, monthly reports to management, off site meetings, etc)

* Utilize/modify/develop MSWord, Excel & PowerPoint documents for assembling, coordinating, prioritizing and communicating the key messages and data associated with said the I&R vision

* Achieve timely completion of commitments.

* Follow through on Employee Survey activities.

* Provide superior customer service to our I&R Executives and Internal customers

* Perform related work as required.

Qualifications Experience/Qualifications:

* Project management - demonstrated skills and setting up and keeping project deadlines.

* Willingness to read lengthy documents critically to identify issues

* Intellectual curiosity is a key success factor as well as being a quick learner and efficient researcher.

* Self-starter who can achieve results with minimal direction and support from senior management.

* Highly organized with strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities

* Excellent Microsoft Office, including Access, is critical.

* Fluency in English. Chinese, French, German, Portuguese or Spanish also a plus.

* 10+ years of related experience

* Exceptional communication skills

* Ability to handle multiple tasks

* Proven problem-solving skills at the senior manager level

Previous experience in an engineering environment is a plus Education AA/AS degree, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, or other post high school training (minimum 2 year duration)

Must be results-oriented and team-oriented

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to pay close attention to detail

Must possess excellent organizational skills

Must be an excellent writer and consolidator of facts

BA degree preferred

Legal Acumen a plus
