Areas of operation include Auburn, Cortland, Binghamton, Dryden, Ithaca, Marathon, and Syracuse.

The Personal Care Aide assists clients and families with personal care and home management to reach the highest level of functioning in these areas. The Personal Care Aide provides services to clients in a residential setting and implements personal care tasks as specified in the PCA care plan. The PCA provides instruction, supervision, and/or attendant care to clients with activities of daily living including; toileting, feeding, personal hygiene, housekeeping, and self-administration of medication. The PCA maintains and updates required records and documents for services provided.

Training available through Certified Personal Care Aide Program approved by the New York State Department of Health which includes 40 hours of classroom and hands-on training and instruction demonstrating competency of skills related to activities of daily living and personal care assistance.

**Required skills and abilities:**

Strong interpersonal skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Creative problem solving and planning skills and ability to develop goal plans. Demonstrate sound judgment, aptitude and ability to work with sick or disabled clients. Computer competency. Ability to work independently. Ability to provide direct care according to the established plan of care. Ability to carry out a variety of treatments and procedures. Is sensitive to cultural differences and able to incorporate that understanding into service provision. Physical agility with repetitive occurrence including but not limited to: Walking, running, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting and twisting. Lifting greater than 50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the work day.
