Wethersfield Public Schools Human Resources Department Wethersfield, Connecticut 06109 ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCIES September 14, 2016

JETS Co-Advisor

The Wethersfield Public Schools partner with the community and families in fostering our students' ongoing education in a safe and secure learning environment. Our schools are demographically diverse and are characterized by respectful behavior, trusting relationships, caring educators/administrators/staff and continuous learning.

The Wethersfield High School JETS Team is multifaceted and is focused on engineering design challenges. Students participating on this team may compete in the national engineering design challenge that puts their creativity, intellect, and technical talent to the test where the team selects, designs, builds and markets a project of its own choosing. Other JETS members may participate in the annual paper/pencil team that focuses on a team-based written engineering test competition held in March, with team members preparing throughout the school year in practice sessions focused on building activities and practice problems sets. The advisor will provide encouragement, support and counsel to this team of students, helping them to plan, organize and execute various club activities throughout the school year. The advisor must demonstrate the ability to work with students in a collaborative manner, hold strong interpersonal and communication skills, have the demonstrated ability to assist students in organizing and executing team projects, and be an advocate for club members and their endeavors. Advisor duties will generally fall outside of the normal school day and as such the advisor must have the ability and willingness to work with students during those timeframes. The frequency, timing and duration of club meetings will be agreed upon between the advisor and the team of students participating.

Applications will be accepted through September 21, 2016, for the advisor position for the JETS Team Co-Advisor at Wethersfield High School.
